ABOUT THE "VFW BUILDING"

This grand facility, which was built in 1914, was Easton's first "talkie" move theatre, then known as The Strand. Since then, the building has housed several non-profit and service organizations, including the Order of the Odd Fellows and most recently, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1290. Over the past two years, NNF has renovated this 30,000 square foot building, and restored the building to near-original condition wherever feasible.

The VFW building comprises four floors, with many rooms, large and small, including the vast "Great Hall" on the first floor, which is approximately 4,500 square feet, two large rooms on the second floor, even larger rooms on the third floor, various smaller rooms, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, two store fronts, a parking lot, and other features.
The building has space for many activities that could bring in visitors and provide a stream of income to support the flood education effort. NNF has retained the internationally-reputed Project for Public Spaces to find complementary uses for the building that would, like a great public space, attract a diverse cross-section of people throughout the year.
